LRF or a Laser Rangefinder is a device used to measure distances. Thermal imaging is a wonderful and powerful technology, and when coupled with a laser rangefinder in it, it takes the highest reign in the hunting and shooting world.
A laser rangefinder is a device that uses a laser beam (invisible to the naked eye) to determine the distance to an object and display it on the screen of the device. The science here is simple – a laser beam is emitted from the laser rangefinder, it travels to the object, and then bounces back and returns to the device. The elapsed time during the laser’s journey determines the distance to the object, and a digital readout is given on the device’s display. The laser rangefinders are regularly used in geodesy, sports, hunting or military. For Ares Series thermal scopes, each laser rangefinder is permanently affixed to the thermal device, and the optic and the laser rangefinder are already zeroed to each other. Ares Series thermal scope can establish an accurate distance of an object that’s up to 3000 meters away.
The purpose of laser rangefinder while hunting is to accurately determine the animal/target range, so we can get the most appropriate chance of an accurate hit. With knowing the distance, the shooter can accurately take into account the bullet drop.
Hunters who have knowledge, experiences and suitable equipment for long-range shots absolutely need the laser rangefinder. Shots fired at long range targets without this equipment are more or less blind shots rather than well-thought and deliberated. Target ranging by a feeling is usually followed by big mistakes which can quickly be foreseen by using the rangefinder.
One of the biggest problems with hunting at night is the darkness. People can’t really see anything and it makes judging distance incredibly hard. Depth perception is almost nonexistent and when you are spinning around in circles with a thermal scanner up to one eye looking for preys, you have a hard time always maintaining bearing and thinking about known distances in the field as you are looking around. So how to fix the problem? Well, a thermal scope with laser rangefinder is quite necessary and important. Ares series products from ThermTec is your first choice when you hunt at night.
The hunting excursion, with a thermal imaging device and a laser rangefinder, would be quite wonderful, as the hunter can relax from a high vantage point, like the top of a hill or in a tree-stand, extract their thermal device, and simply scan the area. Anything that emits heat will be clearly defined. At that point, use the laser rangefinder to determine the distance of the target, and the rest is elementary. Point, aim, shoot. A hunter can safely and ethically reduce the number of nuisance animals from a long distance, or simply harvest prey as they see fit.
Compared to other scopes, the first reason you choose Ares from ThermTec is all laser rangefinders are built-in. Technically, the LRF is a separate device. However, with Ares thermal scopes, that comes built-in. This means two things: first, you don’t need to purchase a separate device. Second, the optic and LRF are already zeroed to each other for precise aiming.
In addition, Ares series thermal scope is capable of accurately measuring distance to objects as far as 3000 meters away.
ThermTec is a global leading manufacturer of products concerning infrared thermal imaging technologies, providing the latest and best thermal technologies and solutions that improves the way people perceive the world, such constructs a safer and more efficient living and working condition for humankinds.
